Jane Russell

Jane Russell, an American actress, singer and model was of more than 40 million when she passed away on February 28th the 28th of February, 2011. She was a bonafide sex symbol in the film industry, Jane moved from the midwest to California to land her big break in her first film performance in "The Outlaw" in 1943.Ernestine Jane Geraldine Russell was born on June 21, 1921, in Bemidji, Minnesota. She was the eldest and the only daughter of five children born to Geraldine and Roy William Russell. There were four brothers in her family: Thomas, Wallace, Jamie and Kenneth. Her father was a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army, and her mother an actress as part of a tour group. Jane began her piano lessons at an early age due to her mother. Jane later became interested in the field of drama, and joined Van Nuys High School's stage production team. Jane always wanted to be an artist or designer but, after the passing of her father in his mid-forties, she took a job as receptionist. Jane began modeling and studied drama and acting with Max Reinhardt's Theatrical Workshop at the urging of her mother.
